Unlicensed contractors:
1. Often don't have insurance
2. Often don't complete jobs and leave homeowners holding the bag
3. Defective work done by unlicensed contractor's is often not covered by your

homeowners insurance if that work causes electrical fire, etc.
4. Defective work done under the table without proper permits - the State can

actually make you remove and redo illegal improvements.
